The Theatre & Dance Department at Gonzaga University encompass a diverse range of majors which include Theatre, Music Performance, Music Studies, Dance Analysis, and Graphic Design. Students are encouraged to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre & Dance or acquire a Master’s Degree in this subject. The Theatre & Dance Department are committed to cultivating artistic artists who face the many complex issues in daily lives through their involvement with the art forms of theatrical dance and live theatre. Students explore and critically analyze a wide array of literature, historical styles, and innovative techniques in order to contribute creatively to this field. Theatre & Dance students can expect to work in a variety of settings including performing arts venues, entertainment companies, corporate training centers, educational facilities, and private home studios. This program allows students to build strong body frames, vocal abilities, and stage presence while gaining critical thinking skills and social awareness.

Students who wish to pursue careers as actors and actresses, as well as choreographers and designers, can expect to have a diverse learning experience. Theatre & Dance programs offer students an opportunity to develop strong body frames, vocal capabilities, stage presence, and creative thinking skills that will prepare them for a wide range of careers in the performing arts industry. The Theatre & Dance Department’s Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre offers students the opportunity to explore all facets of performing arts while gaining a comprehensive understanding of the many different elements involved in producing a musical theatre production.

Students can pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre & Dance, if they are interested in performing arts outside of the classroom. This degree prepares students for a number of different careers including special-occasion entertainment, corporate training and development, advertising agencies, and stage performances. Graduates will be prepared to evaluate and interpret different elements of theatre and dance and be able to communicate effectively about these concepts to other individuals in their workplace.
