Theatre & Dance Science – An Introduction
Whatever your passions, there’s something for you at the Department of Theatre & Dance. Students regularly double major and even minor, pairing Theatre & Dance majors with other courses from English to Environmental Studies, with interdisciplinary minor programs like Arts Management & Entrepreneurship, as well as majors like Theatre History, Theatre & dance Performance, Music theatre, or Dance History. There are also over 30 student organizations, from debating societies to cultural watchdogs to political activity. The department offers programs and study abroad opportunities that span all the disciplines and interests that students wish to discover.
Studying in Theatre & Dance has its advantages, especially when students decide to pursue their degrees in the health studies side of the program. Since Theatre & Dance majors explore the relationship between theatre, dance, and acting, health studies have something to offer all theatre lovers. Students studying in this theatre-related discipline will study health, history, literature, film studies, communication skills, physical education, psychology, sociology, communication, and theatre history, just to name a few. Some Theatre students may decide to continue on to studies of theatre design and the performing arts, while others opt for studying acupuncture, massage therapy, or Pilates. Others may want to pursue degrees in counselling, journalism, communications, English, education, languages, graphic design, or marketing.
